A Sobering Truth

Unpacking the Antisemitism Data from the Anti-Defamation League

Antisemitism is rising at an alarming rate. The Anti-Defamation League’s Global 100 Index of Antisemitism uncovered a sobering truth about our world today: 46% of adults globally hold significant antisemitic beliefs, translating to roughly 2.2 billion people. This is the highest level recorded since the survey began.

But it doesn’t stop there. The data paints an even more distressing picture among younger generations. 50% of adults under 35 believe in key antisemitic stereotypes, with 40% agreeing with the false and hateful statement that "Jews are responsible for most of the world’s wars." Worse still, 61% of those under 35 have little to no knowledge of the Holocaust, heightening the risk of history repeating itself.

For Christians, these numbers serve as a wake-up call. We must remember that hatred toward the Jewish people is not just a societal issue; it’s also deeply spiritual. It’s a clear rejection of God’s promises, His truth, and the values He calls us to carry in the world.

At Love Your Jewish Neighbor, we believe it’s time to act. Standing against antisemitism is not just an option; it’s a sacred responsibility for anyone seeking to walk in the light of Christ.

Why Israel Matters to Our Faith

Throughout the Bible, Israel is central to God’s plan for humanity. When God made His covenant with Abraham in Genesis 12:3, He promised, “I will bless those who bless you...and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” That covenant was never revoked.

Paul underscores this in Romans 11, reminding Christians that we are all “grafted in” to the blessings and promises given to Israel. He writes in verse 15, “If their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?”

What does this mean for us? It means that our faith is deeply rooted in Israel and the Jewish people’s story. Jesus Himself was Jewish. The early disciples were Jewish. To turn a blind eye to Jewish people’s suffering or persecution is to miss the heart of our faith.

The Dangerous Trends We’re Facing

Here are some key findings of The ADL’s Global 100 Index of Antisemitism that highlight the pervasiveness of antisemitism today and why standing against it is so urgent:

Global Ignorance of the Holocaust

25% of respondents worldwide were unaware of the Holocaust entirely. Among people under 35, this number jumps to 39%. Loss of this historical awareness creates fertile ground for denial and hatred to spread

Regional Antisemitism Levels

Antisemitic attitudes remain highest in the Middle East and North Africa at an alarming 76%. But disturbingly, 24% of North Americans and 17% of Western Europeans also harbor antisemitic beliefs

Personal Safety of Jewish Americans

Following recent global events, 77% of American Jews now feel less safe living in the United States, and 56% have altered their behavior out of fear of antisemitism. These are among the highest reported levels of concern in decades

The Dangerous Rise of Anti-Zionism

A growing number of people claim to be “anti-Zionist,” rejecting the legitimacy of Israel as a nation-state. And yet, anti-Zionism often overlaps with traditional antisemitism. You cannot love the Jewish people while hating the existence of a Jewish state

A Biblical Call to Action

As followers of Jesus, we cannot afford to stand on the sidelines. Anti-Zionism, antisemitism, and hatred in any form are directly opposed to God’s command to love our neighbors. We must respond with courage, rooted in the truth of Scripture.

Jesus taught us in Mark 12:30-31 to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” and to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Today, this means standing with our Jewish neighbors, both locally and globally. It means listening to their fears, amplifying their voices, and committing to educate others about the dangers of antisemitism.

Steps You Can Take

Fighting antisemitism might feel overwhelming, but change starts with small, faithful actions. You can make an impact in the following ways:

1. Learn the Truth, and Spread It

The rise of misinformation and Holocaust denial makes education more vital than ever. Equip yourself with the truth. Learn about the history of antisemitism, Israel, and Jewish culture. Then be bold in discussing it with friends, family, and your broader community.

2. Engage in Purposeful Prayer

Pray for the safety of Jewish communities, for clarity of thought amidst rising hate, and for revival within both Jewish and Gentile communities. Prayer is not passive; it’s powerful and needed now more than ever. Check out our How to Pray Against Antisemitism guide as it can help you actively pray thoughtfully with Scripture.

3. Challenge Antisemitism in Everyday Life

Be an advocate for truth when you hear harmful myths or stereotypes. Speak out when you see antisemitism online, in conversations, or on campus. Silence allows hate to grow unchecked.

4. Support Jewish Communities

Attend Jewish community events (Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israel Independence Day, etc.), support Jewish-owned businesses, or simply reach out to Jewish neighbors to show solidarity. Building relationships can break down walls of suspicion and fear.

5. Partner with Like-Minded Organizations

Many organizations are doing critical work fighting hate, promoting education, and documenting antisemitic activity. Partnering with these organizations amplifies their efforts and sends a strong message that hate will not win.

6. Trust in the Power of the Gospel

Ultimately, only Jesus can transform hearts. Sharing His love in both word and action is our greatest tool to combat hate and bigotry. Through Him, reconciliation is possible.

Unite in Love and Purpose

Antisemitism is a spiritual stronghold, but Scripture reminds us that we are not powerless. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world.” Our prayers, voices, and actions are weapons in this fight – not just to stem the tide of hatred, but to usher in God’s Kingdom on Earth.

At Love Your Jewish Neighbor, we believe it’s time to take a stand. The ADL’s Global 100 Index of Antisemitism numbers paint a grim reality. However, they also remind us that our actions today hold the power to change hearts, minds, and futures. Together, we can fight ignorance, combat lies, and ensure hope and truth prevail.

Will you join us? Start learning, acting, and loving now. Stand with your Jewish neighbors today, and show the world the powerful love of Jesus in action. Together, we can reflect His heart of justice and grace.

Take action now to be part of the change.
