Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month is a new movement to encourage acts of kindness and support toward the Jewish people in your community. Learn why July is a meaningful month for this campaign and how you can participate.
It’s time to counter the wave of antisemitism that Jewish people are enduring – with intentional efforts to bring comfort and encouragement that communicate you are for them. We’ll help show you how.
Antisemitism is rising at an alarming rate, leaving many in Jewish communities feeling vulnerable in their own cities. Due to the long and often painful history between Jewish and Christian communities, many Jewish people assume Christians are not in their corner.
But together we can change that.
As followers of the Messiah, we recognize the biblical mandate to, like the Good Samaritan, cross the road and act like true neighbors – extending our hands in love and friendship and showing compassion to all people. In today’s environment of runaway antisemitism, this is an especially important time to reach out to the Jewish community around us.
July marks Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month, a global movement calling the Church to take tangible, local action against hate. This is your opportunity to let your Jewish “neighbors” know you care about them and stand with them against the growing climate of antisemitism.
This mission is anchored in the clear command of Isaiah 40:1: “Comfort, comfort My people, says your God” (TLV). Now is the time to step into our communities and offer that much-needed comfort.
July holds profound spiritual and historical significance on the Jewish calendar. It serves as a bridge between two deeply contrasting observances.
First is Tisha B’Av, a solemn season of mourning that remembers the destruction of the Temples and countless historic tragedies, including seasons of severe antisemitism. Soon after comes Tu B’Av, a joyful celebration of love, connection, and new beginnings.
Together, these days make July a meaningful time to show your love, care, and respect for the Jewish people around you during Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month.
This is your opportunity to make a real impact in Jewish lives by showing them you are for them and you stand against the terrible tide of antisemitism threatening their sense of security and freedom in their own communities.
Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month is a grassroots campaign to encourage people, the Church included, to reach out to their Jewish neighbors in ways meaningful to them. You might wonder who your Jewish “neighbors” may be. Opportunities exist right in your daily routine:
This July, you can make a lasting impact by focusing on three clear pillars of action.
We know that our battle is not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us of the spiritual warfare at play behind the sudden surge of antisemitic hatred. Here are some ways you can pray.
You can also host a prayer event in July, such as a 24-hour prayer watch or a weekly prayer meeting.
Small acts of kindness and service can open doors to meaningful relationships. God has placed Jewish people in your life, both individuals and institutions, on purpose. Consider ways you or your congregation can serve them through gifts, volunteering, or raising funds for security improvements.
You might even consider reaching out to Jewish organizations based on similarities. For instance, your congregation could show support for a Jewish synagogue in your area by raising funds to enhance its security or by simply dropping off a gift basket with a card. You could match organizationally in other ways: business-to-business, school-to-school, or senior center-to-senior center.
Education and visible solidarity help dismantle ignorance and fear. Many Christians aren’t aware that antisemitism is an age-old form of spiritual warfare. You can help raise awareness in several ways:
Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month is about showing support and encouragement. As Believers, we all want every person to come to faith in Jesus – because we know the Bible says there is no means of salvation outside of Him (Acts 4:12).
However, with the devastating history of antisemitism, persecution, and forced conversions put upon the Jewish world by so-called Christians, Love Your Jewish Neighbor recognizes that Gospel discussions must be patiently earned. The focus of Love Your Jewish Neighbor Month is simply to show your Jewish neighbors that you are on their side.
